Kinja's frontend performance has seen better days, we know that. But how much better? We don't really know as our recently introduced frontend performance measurement was introduced... well, recently. But hey, it is working now, and now we have some nice graphs to check after every simplification, modification and alteration of the frontend stack.

Solid background for that is a new jQuery plugin, jQuery.statsd written by us, capable of collecting and sending custom frontend timings to an API endpoint. You can do whatever you want with the data received on the server side - we send it to statsd, that's why the name. Here are our results for frontpages on desktop browsers, rendered by Graphite:
